Joel Porter is an experienced attorney, developer, and spiritual leader in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a lawyer, he leverages more than three decades of experience to serve as managing partner at Porter & Porter, a firm he founded in 2000. He specializes in litigation involving medical malpractice, product liability, wrongful death, and civil rights, among other areas. Joel Porter has won multiple multi-million dollar awards for clients in Louisiana.

He previously served as senior managing attorney with Johnson, Porter, Bates & Sanders, of which he was a founding partner, and has additional legal experience as a contract attorney with the Louisiana State Department of Insurance. As a developer, he invests in and revitalizes distressed properties in Baton Rouge. He is currently building a $16 million affordable housing project known as The Villas at Mohican.

Mr. Porter holds a master of divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and has been a pastor or associate pastor at several Baptist churches in Baton Rouge. He helped revitalize the fading Weller Avenue Baptist Church, bringing in more than 150 new members within his first year as pastor.

He earned his juris doctor at Southern University Law Center, where he was president of the Student Bar Association and listed in Who's Who Among Students in America.
